As another action-packed weekend at the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo comes to a close I'm left with a feeling of exhausted contentment. This year more than any before it I have started to feel at home and relaxed with my work. The weekend was an overwhelming reaffirmation that I'm on the right path with my artistic development and I couldn't be happier.
Over the weekend I sold off most of what I consider to be my best work of the last year. This leaves me in the position to create new and exciting body of work that builds off of the existing techniques. The feedback and comments from people were exceptional and provided valuable insight into understanding which things are working and which things to pursue further.
Seeing independent artists thriving in their own pursuits is exactly what helps me get inspired to push myself. People seemed to be digging the Sci-Fi stuff so that is one area I'm going to push for the next little while.
I'm going to make an effort to include another destination on the Comic Con route this year with the Edmonton Comic Expo- It runs September 28th and 29th this year. This means I'll be creating more prints in less time and pushing myself to make good use of my free time.
Note: In the spirit of better communication and integration I've changed my website to something I can reformat more easily. I loved my old website but it felt removed from my online social networking and I had trouble remembering to update it. This one is cleaner and has enough options to satisfy my constant need for change.
